See our other listing for #1 if interested. Artist and Philanthropist, Larry Poncho Brown, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, began his creative path at 17 years old. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design and photography from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
His work has been featured in magazines like Ebony and Essence; in telvision shows like "A Different World" and "The Wire"; and in movies like "Avalon" and "Soulfood". Larry Poncho Brown's are in the collections of Camille Cosby, Dick Gregory, Yale New Haven Health Park Avenue Medical Center, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the District of Columbia Superior Courts, the Children's Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University, and Howard University Hospital, among many others. He was named "Artist of the Year" by the African American Visual Arts Association in 2000, "Jan Spivey Gilchrist Visual Arts Award" in 2013, "Baker Artists Award" in 2021, and the Curtis R. 3rd Annual Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023. Notably, he was recognized as "Best Visual Artist" by The Baltimore Times in their "Best of Black Baltimore" list in 2024.He fearlessly explores his interests in Afrocentric themes, Ancient Egyptology, and dance.
