AFRICAN AMERICAN ARTIST BERNIE ROBYNSON HANDCOLOR ORIGINALSERIGRAPH PRINT EXTREMELY RARE & WONDERFUL SIGNED. It is an original serigraph (possibly the only one) hand colored by the artist.
He has titled it "Quilting For Church Benifit" Benifit mispelled Wonderful scene of a group of African American women quilting. Overall size with mat measures 19" x 15". It is signed right center.
Print is laid down on board and the mat is also affixed. The piece can be hung as is or easily put into a simple frame. It is a great image.
Thank You and Good Luck! Bernie Hayes Robynson, dean of Black graphic artists, was born in Paris, Kentucky in 1900. His parents were teachers and their travels took Bernie to many picturesque sections of the Blue Grass state. He studied at Knoxville College, The National Academy of Art, Art Students League and Agusta Savage's Art Workshop. Bernie was a pioneer serigraphic printmaking. Of his series, A Human Melody, Bernie was quoted as saying he endeavored to preserve some of the quaint, hospitable scenes in the life of people enjoying themselves in the old South a few decades ago.
