This is a lovely Antique Old African American Social Realism WPA Women Portrait Painting, Pastels on Paper, depicting a young girl, pensively sitting in a chair, while her mother reassuringly puts a hand on her shoulder. They both wear flowing skirts, indicative of the age of this artwork dating to the late 1940's - early 1950's.

This piece does not appear to be signed, but perhaps you recognize the artist or their work? Approximately 17 1/8 x 21 5/8 inches including frame. Actual visible artwork is approximately 11 1/8 x 15 1/2 inches. Good condition for 70+ years of age, with expected scuffing, edge wear, and gilding loss to the original period frame, and some mild wrinkling to the matting please see photos. Acquired in Los Angeles County, California.
