Original African American Art Cultural Art Folk Art Signed By Trismegistus
This art piece is an original work by Trismegistus. The piece was named'Tears of Africa' and the inspiration behind this art piece came from the crisis, pain, and identity issues felt in the African American community. In the center image we have a traditional African women grounded by earth but still open to the universal energy around her. The waterfall from her eye representing the tears she cry's in life due to the grief and pain she has endured in like. She wears a tradition African themed head piece that brings her back to her roots in Africa. As is common in any culture that is thrown into the mixing bowl that America has come, many cultures or races feel a need to assimilate tot he American ways which causes them to leave behind the practices, style, and traditions they came to this country with. I the surrounding image we have a depiction of an African landscape as the river of emotion flows through, experiencing obstacle after obstacle as it flows. The boarder of the art piece is a reimagined version of traditional African mud cloth symbols and used to enclose the elements of the piece as it again hints to African roots and reminds one that they should not be forgotten. These symbols all have their own meanings but represent life, marriage, love, kindness, etc. The whole artwork is done on a 32x32 canvas with acrylic paint. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me and I will relay questions about the art work to the artist.
