A New Orleans native, printmaker Sue Smock's art reflects her interest in non-Western imagery in printmaking. Smock has had a career as a printmaker and art professor, serving as the chairperson of the Department of Fine Arts at Lincoln University.

Her prints are in the collection of the California African-American Museum, the Amistad Research Center, the New Orleans Museum of Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. This print is an original artist's proof woodcut print in black and brown on cream wove paper, circa 1966. Measures 32 3/4 x 18 1/2 inches overall with frame. Matte shows some stains, frame does not appear original to the piece.
